About us

Hospice Ukraine is a UK registered charity supporting hospices in Ukraine to provide comfort, dignity and palliative care for all in need at the end of life.  Founded after UK doctors Rachel Clarke and Henry Marsh visited Ukraine in October 2022 to support local palliative care specialists.

Mission

In Sambir Hospice near Lviv, staff are
regularly forced by power cuts to treat
patients by candlelight (late 2022).

We believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality palliative care, no matter where they live. But the upheaval of war has overwhelmed Ukrainian teams’ ability to support the terminally ill.

Our mission is simple. We are dedicated to supporting healthcare professionals in Ukraine to provide comfort, dignity and palliative care for all in need at the end of life.

“Healthcare in Ukraine is being deliberately targeted as a weapon of war. If you maim a doctor, you are also harming all the other people that doctor might have treated.

It’s a kind of psychological warfare, aimed at hurting and
demoralising whole communities.”
